Bộ 11 Đề thi Tiếng Anh vào 10 Thanh Hóa (Có đáp án)

Cell phones are an important part of our society and their main use is communication. They keep students in touch with the rest of the world by giving them the power to interact with it. In the old days, if you forgot to bring your lunch, you had to rely on the school office calling home for you. Now, students have the ability to solve their own problems and handle certain emergencies on their own.

Cell phones also allow students to keep in touch with their friends and students at other schools. While not directly beneficial to education, better relationships can lead to higher self-esteem and reduce isolation, which is good for everybody. In the same way, camera phones allow students to capture the kinds of memories that help build a solid school culture. In some cases, they can act as documentation of misbehaviors because they provide evidence and prevent bad behaviors.

Academically, the cell phone can record a video or an audio of the lessons that may need to be reviewed later. And just imagine if classes could be easily recorded for students who are absent. What if they could even be streamed and seen from home instantly?

36. What is the main idea of the passage?

A. The importance of cell phones in communication and education.

B. Cell phones will be used as cameras to capture memories.

C. How to use some electronic devices in communication and education.

D. Cell phones can be used as an excellent recorder.

I. Read the following passage and choose the most suitable word from the ones given in the box to fill in
each gap. Write the answers on your answer sheet.
 quickly most on pollution simple
Modern civilization is heavily dependent (26) energy. Without reliable power sources, we
couldn’t operate machines, use transportation, communicate via the Internet, or do many other things.
Although everyone recognizes the importance of energy, deciding what kind of energy the world should
use in the future is not a (27) task. The two leading candidates for this role are green energy and
nuclear energy.
Currently, (28) of the energy we use is derived from fossil fuels. Although this energy source
has provided people with a lot of benefits, there are several problems with it. For starters, it is a finite
resource which is (29) running out. Some analysis have even estimated that the Earth could run out
of coal and oil within the next 50 years. Burning fossil fuels also creates a large amount of (30) ,
which is harmful to the environment. Although fossil fuels still provide the majority of our power,
governments are seeking better energy sources to use.
II. Read the following passage and choose the best answer A, B, C or D to fill in each gap. Write the
answers on your answer sheet.
From the 20th to the 21st century, there have been (31) significant changes in the majority of
countries around the world. Substantial differences are evident between the way we live today (32) the
way we lived a century ago. Vietnam is no exception although there are some aspects of life in Vietnam
that are similar to the way of life of the 20th century.
Living in Vietnam today differs greatly (33) the lifestyle of 100 years ago. People in the past
mainly worked in agriculture, whereas today there are significantly fewer people working in this (34) of
the economy. These days, by comparison, people are more likely to be employed in manufacturing and
tourism than in the rice fields. Moreover, Vietnam, (35) was traditionally agricultural, is transforming
DeThiTiengAnh.net Bộ 11 Đề thi Tiếng Anh vào 10 Thanh Hóa (Có đáp án) - DeThiTiengAnh.net
into an entirely different country. While agriculture is still an important component of the Vietnamese
economy, other enterprises are accounting for an increasing amount of economic activity.

34. A. factor B. way C. element D. sector
35. A. that B. who C. which D. where
III. Read the following passage and answer the questions by choosing the best answer A, B, C or D.
Write the answers on your answer sheet.
Hot weather makes the heart pump harder. That is the reason why the majority of mountain rescue
statistics are made up from summer walkers suffering heart attacks. So, how to walk safely in summer?
The answer is to keep up the water intake. It is vital not to wait until a thirst before stopping for
a drink. Instead, keep drinking regularly from your water bottle.
Given that evaporation is the body’s way to cool itself, soaking a hat with water is a great way to
cool the head. Walking in the heat increases the rate at which your feet swell, which can lead to them feeling
tight in your boots. Cool water from a stream reduces any swelling and helps general foot comfort.
As for what clothing you wear, this should be lightweight and reasonably loose-fitting. Tight clothing
will feel uncomfortable and may even lead to an irritating rash on the skin. The answer, if this does develop,
is to try and stay cool as much as possible. Do this by either keeping in the shade, or washing the affected
area with cold water, but without soap.
It is understandable to want to remove some clothing when it is extremely hot, but it does not really
make much sense to take off T-shirts. The sun’s rays can be quite strong, and shoulders are always very
sensitive to sunburn. This is the worst place to be red and sore when you are wearing a heavy rucksack on
your back. Wearing shorts can also create problems for walkers, as the backs of the legs can catch the sun
very easily.
36. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A. Causes of Heart Attacks for Walkers B. Causes of Heart Attacks for Walkers
C. Causes of Uncomfortable Swelling D. Advice for Walking in Summer
37. The word “them” in paragraph 3 refers to .
A. walkers B. feet C. legs D. boots
38. The word “irritating” in paragraph 4 is closest in meaning to .
A. comfortable B. pleasant C. annoying D. appealing
39. According to paragraph 5, wearing shorts .
A. is good for walkers when it is too hot B. can protect walkers’ feet perfectly
C. is advisable for strong walkers only D. can cause sunburn on walkers’ legs
40. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A. Summer walkers should avoid using soap to wash a rash on the skin.
B. Summer walkers had better drink only when they feel thirsty.
C. Summer walkers should keep their head cool by wearing soaked hats.
D. Summer walkers had better not put on tight and heavy clothes.
