HOW MUCH CAN YOU LEARN IN A MONTH?
 I work for a magazine, which was doing an article about Americans learning foreign languages. As a(n) (1) .. they asked me to learn a completely new language for one month. Then I had to go to the country and take some “tests” to see (2) . I could “survive” in different situations. I decided to study Portuguese because I’ve always been fascinated by Brazilian culture and really wanted to travel there. I took a one-month intensive course at a language school.  Television enables us to see things in distant places. It is indeed one of the most wonderful things that man has ever invented. Television not only entertains people but also teaches people a variety of important things. Through this wonderful invention we learn about people and events thousands of miles away. Pictures taken in all parts of the world are also shown on television for entertainment as well as for instruction. Short films based on popular stories are often shown which entertain millions of people all over the world.
 	In some countries television is used to offer useful lessons to pupils and students in disadvantaged places. Those living in remote areas without means of transportation that cannot go to school can have their lessons at home through television. As television appeals to the eyes instead of the ears, people enjoy watching things on TV more than listening to the radio. Listening for comprehension requires knowledge of many things, but what we see with our eyes almost directly and promptly clarify themselves.
